Tips for interior painting, decorating and preparation of walls and ceiling

Nothing like new painting decorating brings an internal makeover to life but cutting corners can result in a disappointing finish. Ask any painter decorator and you will always get the same reply ‘the best results are due to the best prepartion’.

Preparation is key to ensuring your homes’ interior decorating looks glorious and its worth taking the time.   Tired and uneven wall surfaces can be made good and you’ll be far more happy with the finished result having not painted over them.   If you don’t have the time or inclination to perform the works then you should obtain estimates from a painter decorator London.

Basic Tips

  • Remove the curtains/blinds, lighting and as much furniture from the room.
  • Cover the remaining furniture and the floor surface if you don’t want it to get dirty.
  • Fill all nail holes, dents, and cracks on the wall, plasterwork or woodwork with a suitable filler (polyfilla, woodfiller or caulking).
  • Remove loose paint and sand any uneven edges.
  • Before any painting wash all surfaces thoroughly.
  • Mask window frames, electrical sockets, light switches and surfaces you don’t want to paint. It’s worth the time!
